Head of European Private Placement Origination
Ernesto (Ernie) Chesculescu is a member of Barings’ Private Placements and Asset-Based Finance Group based in London, where he is Head of European Private Placement Origination. Ernie is responsible for the origination and underwriting of transactions in Europe as well as credit and relationship management. He has over 20 years of experience across a broad range of areas. Prior to joining Barings, he worked in investment banking at NatWest and Santander helping issuers raise financing in the private markets globally. Prior to this, Ernie was at MetLife, originating and underwriting private placement deals across Europe. He started his career at Deloitte in London. Ernie is a Chartered Accountant, a member of the CFA institute and holds an M.A. from the University of Oxford.
