CJ Wei

CJ Wei is a Managing Director and Portfolio Manager in Barings’ Capital Solutions Group, with a focus on Specialty Asset-Based Finance.  Based in New York, he is responsible for originating, underwriting and managing global asset-based finance investments and serves on the firm’s Capital Solutions and Asset-Backed Finance investment committees.

CJ’s deep investing experience spans private credit, capital solutions and asset-based finance.  Prior to joining Barings, he was a Managing Director at Northleaf Capital where he led and scaled the firm’s asset-based finance strategy, driving global origination and execution across a range of specialty finance sectors.

Prior to that, CJ held investment roles focused on structured finance and asset-based lending at Fundamental Advisors, Jefferies and Man Group.

He holds a B.S. in Business Administration from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill – Kenan-Flagler Business School.
