Sam Lockhart Smith

Sam Lockhart Smith is a member of Barings Real Estate, a global real estate platform with extensive capabilities across both debt and equity strategies. Sam is a Director and Assistant Portfolio Manager responsible for a European open-end core real estate fund. He is also responsible for modelling and investor reporting. Additionally, he has undertaken detailed real estate analysis for potential acquisitions and debt transactions across the European markets. Sam has worked in the industry since 2007. Before joining the firm in 2010, Sam began his career at ING Real Estate, where he held various roles in asset and fund management. He worked as an asset manager on the ING Lionbrook and ING Central London Funds and as the Fund Analyst on the ING U.K. Real Estate Income Trust (now Picton Capital), where he was responsible for all fund modelling. Sam holds a BSc in Accounting, Economics and Spanish from the University of Bristol; an MSc in Real Estate Investment and Finance from the University of Reading; and the IPF Diploma in Property Investment from the Investment Property Forum. He is a member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (“MRICS”) and a member of the Investment Property Forum.
