Michael Flynn
Managing Director, APAC Real Estate
Michael serves as Executive Director and Managing Director for the Barings APAC Real Estate team. He has extensive experience in real estate investment, funds management and corporate finance, and joined Barings in 2024 to drive the expansion of real estate within APAC outside Australia.
Michael spent the past 16 years building the Cordea Savills LLP/Savills IM business in APAC, where he was a founding partner and the first employee in the region in 2007. He launched businesses in Singapore, Japan, Korea, Australia, Thailand and India. During his tenure at Savills IM, assets under management grew from US$3b to US$29b. Before that, Michael served as APAC CEO for a real estate company owned by Nuveen (then Henderson), Simon Property Group, Grosvenor Estates and AMP.
He began his career at Goldman Sachs, where he spent seven years as an investment banker based in London. He also helped establish the Sydney office and worked mainly in TMT, PIA, REPIA and ECM groups on transactions globally.
Michael holds a master’s degree in philosophy (logic and metaphysics) from the University of St Andrews in Scotland.
