Justin Preftakes

Justin Preftakes is a member of Barings Real Estate, a global real estate platform with extensive capabilities across both debt and equity strategies. Justin heads Barings’ construction lending platform and is responsible for the team’s origination of construction mortgages. Justin works with the debt origination team, the credit and underwriting team and the asset management team to originate, structure, close and service custom construction loans. Additionally, Justin contributes to the team’s origination of development mezzanine loans and preferred equity investments. Justin joined the firm in 2006 and his experience has encompassed high yield lending, mezzanine and preferred equity originations, analysis of tax credit investments, equity asset management of real estate owned properties as well as various capital markets duties including analysis of investments in subordinated CMBS, unsecured REIT debt and private real estate funds. Justin holds a B.A. in English from Plymouth State University and an M.B.A. from the Isenberg School of Management at the University of Massachusetts.
