Lydia Wu is Head of Distribution for Greater China and Southeast Asia. Lydia is responsible for the business development and the advancement of senior client relationships across the institutional, wealth, and retail channels in the region. She also serves as Chair to Barings’ APAC Women’s Network. Prior to her current position, she served as Head of Institutional Distribution. Lydia brings more than 15 years of comprehensive experience in the asset management industry, with strong expertise and knowledge in both traditional and alternative strategies. Prior to joining the firm in 2021, she worked for Oaktree Capital as Senior Vice President, responsible for institutional and intermediary business development activities in Greater China. Before that, Lydia was Director at BNY Mellon, focusing on growing the institutional business of BNY Mellon, and strengthening senior relationships with investors across APAC. Before her role at BNY Mellon, Lydia was Vice President at SSGA, where she was responsible for promoting active, enhanced and passive strategies along with customized solutions for different types of investors in Greater China. As the senior representative, she also worked closely with local insurance regulators to design frameworks and provide suggestions for their overseas investment. Lydia began her career at Morgan Stanley Investment Management where she was responsible for serving both institutional and intermediary investors in China and Taiwan. Lydia received a Master of Arts degree in Law and a Bachelor of Arts in International Economic Law from Zhongnan University of Economics and Law. She holds the China Legal Professional Qualification and is fluent in Mandarin, Cantonese and English.
