Thomas M. Finke
Tom Finke is a Strategic Advisor for Barings. Previously, he was Chairman and Chief Executive Officer. Tom has worked in the industry since 1986 and his financial career has included roles in both the banking and investment management industries.
He joined the firm when Babson Capital Management acquired First Union Institutional Debt Management, a $3.6 billion high yield loan manager which he co-founded, from Wachovia Corporation. From December 2008 to May 2011, Tom also served as EVP and CIO for the Massachusetts Mutual Life Insurance Company, but relinquished these responsibilities to focus on Babson Capital. In 2016, Tom successfully led the integration of Babson Capital Management, Wood Creek Capital Management, Cornerstone Real Estate Advisers, and Baring Asset Management to form Barings. He was named Chairman and CEO.
Tom is a member of the Board of Directors of Charlotte Center City Partners and serves on the Charlotte Executive Leadership Council, Duke University’s Fuqua School of Business Board of Visitors and the Investment Committee of the Charlotte Roman Catholic Diocese. He is also an active contributor to the nonpartisan economic think tank The Milken Institute.
Tom holds an M.B.A. from Duke University's Fuqua School of Business and a bachelor's degree from the University of Virginia's McIntire School of Commerce.
