Babson Capital Corporate Investors Conducts 2016 Annual Shareholder Meeting

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (April 22, 2016) – The Board of Trustees of Babson Capital Corporate Investors (the "Trust") met on April 22, 2016. The Trust also conducted its 2016 Annual Meeting of Shareholders.
The Trust’s Trustees determined that the Trust’s March 31, 2016 net asset value ("NAV") is $282,588,113 or $14.35 per share based on 19,694,642 shares outstanding. The Trust's March 31, 2015 NAV was $293,255,436 or $14.99 per share based on 19,567,332 shares outstanding. The Trust reported a NAV of $275,915,289 or $14.03 per share as of December 31, 2015, based on 19,664,704 shares outstanding. All figures other than December 31, 2015 figures are unaudited.
The Trust’s net investment income for the quarter ended March 31, 2016 was $4,808,831 or $0.24 per share compared to $5,449,489 or $0.28 per share, of which approximately $681,886 or $0.03 per share represented income due to nonrecurring items, for the corresponding quarter last year. For the previous year ended December 31, 2015, net investment income was $20,423,963 or $1.04 per share.
The Trust declared a quarterly dividend of 30 cents per share payable on May 13, 2016 to shareholders of record on May 2, 2016. The Trust had previously paid a 30 cent-per-share dividend for the preceding quarter. The Board of Trustees also approved the continuance of the Trust’s current Investment Services Contract with Babson Capital Management LLC.
During the quarter ended March 31, 2016 net capital losses of $1,345,504 or $0.07 per share were realized by the Trust, compared to net capital gains of $3,124,992 or $0.16 per share for the quarter ended March 31, 2015. For the previous quarter ended December 31, 2015, net capital losses were $1,572,135 or $0.08 per share.
At the Annual Meeting, shareholders elected Robert E. Joyal and Susan B. Sweeney as Trustees for three-year terms and Edward P. Grace, III as Trustees for a two-year term.
The Trust also announced that Robert M. Shettle will succeed Michael L. Klofas as President of the Trust effective June 1, 2016. At the Trust’s Annual Meeting of Shareholders, Mr. Klofas announced that he is retiring from Babson Capital and as President of the Trust, effective June 1st. Mr. Shettle is currently head of Babson’s Mezzanine and Private Equity Group, where he focuses on originating, analyzing, structuring and documenting mezzanine and private equity investments. He also serves as a Vice President of the Trust and is engaged in the management of the Trust.
The market price of Babson Capital Corporate Investors as of March 31, 2016 was $17.01, which equates to a 18.54% premium over the March 31, 2016 NAV per share. The Trust’s average quarter-end premium for the 3, 5 and 10-year periods was 10.45%, 16.01% and 13.01%, respectively.
