Barings Employees Complete London to Paris Charity Bike Ride
Jun 18, 2019
This weekend, a group of over 40 employees from Barings, one of the world’s leading financial services firms, took part in a charity bike ride from its London office to Paris, raising money for the firm’s European Charities of the Year, Royal Trinity Hospice and Leap Confronting Conflict.
Employees from across the firm set off from the Barings office at 20 Old Bailey and wheeled their way across 60 miles of Kent and Sussex countryside to Newhaven, where they boarded the ferry to Dieppe. From there, they tackled another 120 miles before eventually arriving in Paris. The ride took two days and support vehicles and Barings volunteers were on hand throughout the ride.
This year, Barings employees in Europe nominated charities they would like to support through fundraising events such as the bike ride, the chosen charities are:
The Royal Trinity Hospice, which provides palliative care and support for people and their families as inpatients and within the community, and Leap Confronting Conflict, which provides conflict management training and support for young people and the professionals working with them. Leap works with young people aged 11-25 who are struggling with conflict, helping them to make changes in their lives and reduce violence in their communities.
Julian Swayne, Chief Executive, Barings Europe, said: “The annual Barings bike ride is a great example of Barings associates coming together to support our charitable partnerships. There was a great atmosphere on the ride and all those who took part should be congratulated on their achievement in completing the ride and on their fundraising efforts.”
