Barings Announces Four Senior Leaders’ New and Expanded Roles

Barings has promoted Lesley Garafola, Chris Cary, Elizabeth Murray and Kristin Roble to Managing Director, effective immediately.

“I am extremely pleased to announce the very well-deserved promotions of these four outstanding leaders,” said Chairman and Chief Executive Tom Finke. “Barings prides itself on promoting from within and today’s announcement recognizes the deep bench of senior talent at the firm.”

Lesley Garafola, who reports to Chief Legal Officer Sheldon Francis, will assume a newly created role as Barings Global Head of Procurement and Vendor Management. She previously served as Global Director of Legal Operations where she oversaw the day to day operations, management of outside counsel, legal technology and strategic planning on behalf of the Legal, Compliance, Audit, and Sustainability organizations.

Chris Cary, Elizabeth Murray and Kristin Roble all report to CFO Patrick Hoefling.

Chris has assumed the role of Global Treasurer of Barings LLC, taking on additional responsibilities previously performed by Patrick, prior to his appointment as CFO in January.  Chris formerly served as Treasurer of Barings BDC, Inc. (“BBDC”) and its affiliates, where he was responsible for managing the liability structure, funding and liquidity for these entities. Chris will continue to serve as Head of Stakeholder Relations for BBDC.

Elizabeth has taken on an expanded role as Principal Accounting Officer for BBDC, Barings Participation Investors and Barings Corporate Investors.  She was previously the Director of External Reporting for BBDC.

Kristin is the new Global Head of Financial Planning & Analysis. She is responsible for overseeing firm and cost center level budgeting, as well as business unit performance reporting and analytics globally, responsibilities previously assumed by Patrick. She earlier served as a Director in the Financial Planning & Analysis group.

“We have extraordinary talent at all levels and locations within the Barings organization,” said President Mike Freno. “In addition to our four new managing directors, we are delighted to announce the promotion of more than 125 associates globally this week.”
