James Salmon

James Salmon is a member of Barings Real Estate, a global real estate platform with extensive capabilities across both debt and equity strategies. James is a Managing Director and Head of European Real Estate Asset Management and Business Strategy, responsible for setting property strategies to ensure that the performance of funds is maximized over their life. In addition, he serves on the European Investment Committee and is responsible for real estate ESG globally. In addition, he serves on the European/Asia Pacific Investment Committee. James has worked in the industry since 1990. Prior to joining the firm in 2005, he was with Protego Real Estate Investors LLP before its acquisition by Barings in January 2010. Prior to that, James was with Aberdeen Property Investors for six years. While at Aberdeen, he was responsible for managing specialist retail limited partnerships.  Prior to joining Aberdeen, James worked at Capital and Regional plc for five years, where he specialized in retail property. James holds a BSc in Urban Land Economics from Sheffield Hallam University. He is a Member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors and a member of the Investment Property Forum.
